Evil pop-ups
My computer got malware over the weekend, due (in part) to my failure to do anything to prevent it. I was planning to go buy some anti-evil software this evening. The remaining IT dude here suggested I try his favorite free download first. So I'm doing that tonight. If it works, free solution! If it doesn't work, I'll buy software tomorrow.
I'm not really expecting it to work, so I'm blogging from the office.
eta: I think it worked.

The fiscal year is waning
and the folks at the head office are most eager that we should use all our vacation days before June 1. So! Half-days for the rest of the week, taking Monday off, and then I have to devise more leisure. Perhaps I could go east. I should definitely have lunch with sisters...

Have a nice day
I don't have a nice day any more. I don't bother much with that. I think I'm beyond that now. I think I've outgrown the nice day. I think I've had my share. Why should I be hogging all the really nice ones? Let somebody else have a few. Course, everybody still wants me to have one. Everybody wants me to have a nice day. 'Have a nice day!' Yeah, yeah, yeah. You wanna give me my fucking change, please? I'm triple parked...

This morning on the bus
I saw the new exterior of the Owl Tree. It's a black and white mosaic of snowy owl face in extreme close up. Pretty cool, I thought.
I should visit.

Matinee Idylls
M and I played scientist today, and we now have experimental evidence that Spiderman 3 is less fun that watching paint dry.
Other observations:
- Nice effects. Too bad they went on too long.
- The only actor with any subtlety was JK Simmons. A one-dimensional role, and he plays it broad - but he's the one who got some nuance out of the lousy script.
- Stan Lee did a nice cameo.
- Rebound Girl going, "You asked me out to annoy someone else. Get bent." That was nice.
- If they do make another, I hope against hope that "MJ" got some of that space goo on her.
- No final decision has been reached on the taupes, though yellow has been definitely rejected.
