-1 Dusted the bowl of hairpins

Also, moved the pins into a plastic box, that they will not accumulate such dust in the future.

Further adventures

Filed my first police report tonight. The process was made more entertaining by the child of the people ahead of me in line. He was most cute; younger than, but otherwise not unlike, my nephew. I should go visit my nephew. And send him books.

I spent the last week intermittently handing out keys. There were two impromptu parties at my place, at which I passed around keys and drinks and said things like "I am the Keymaster!" and my neighbors gave no hint that they had seen either Ghostbusters or Say Anything. One of my neighbors surprised me by having a spare set cut for me. I was very touched.

Brunch last weekend with T&S. I've agreed to take receipt of a gatefold table and rather a lot of geneological materials. (*anticipatory cackle*)

Did the requested shopping for the Wandering Albatross. Must ship tomorrow.

I knew there was a reason I was putting off the earrings

I moved the earrings off the dresser top and into the living room for sorting, and then I thought, "oh, hey, while I've got the space, I should look in the top drawers." Lots of writing implements & misc small office supplies in the left-hand drawer, which have been shifted to under my keyboard. I haven't even started with the right-hand drawer. I guess that'll be tomorrow's project.

Also, at right around 11:30pm, something exploded outside. Moments later, what appeared to be the entire complement of Fire Station 8 rolled past my place, going southwest, sirens blazing. I've been flipping stations looking for news for an hour; all sources equally oblivious. Thanks, local news.

Today's bright idea

I'm thinking about putting a long flourescent tube on top of the bookcase/room divider. Not sure if it'd be bright enough, or maybe too bright? Fret. It would be fairly fast, cheap, and easy, though.

Talked to the loan officer today, and this time I asked what the words mean. She was very reassuring. All is well, all is good. Except, I talked to my broker today, and it takes three days to settle up after a sale. Oops. I should have put in the sell orders last week. Except, one of my stocks bounced $30/share over the weekend. My vast ignorance of all things financial has gained me an unexpected profit, but also delayed closing by almost a week.

Brush with B-52

I was on my way to the supermarket after work. Round about Kearney, I realized the tourist next to me getting all sticker-shocked about the fare had a very familiar voice. I glanced over, and went Fred! I didn't say that out loud. No, I said something inane about the mass-transit experience. He said he could get that on the subway. Seemed a fair point. We stopped at Grant, and a row of tourists formed, snapping shots of the cable car. He started laughing. "You don't get that on the subway," I said, He and his companion said, "Well..." I suppressed the urge to point out Coit Tower and the steeples of Sts Peter & Paul as we went by. I suppressed the urge to get all fangirly effusive at him - if he wanted effusion, he'd have been traveling differently. I did, however, keep sneaking peeks. And eavesdropping. They were on their way to Whole Foods and then meeting some people later. I suppressed the urge to tail them to Whole Foods, and got off at Cala like I'd planned.

OMG OMG OMG Fred!

Found while web-surfing

Poster1: I honestly am having trouble coming up with a meaningful distinction between the insurance companies and organized crime. Seriously.

Poster2: you can contact organized crime after 5pm.

I did not watch Survivor tonight

Most of it, anyway. b2 called just as it was ending and told me to tune in. I did, just in time to see the chief gargoyle do the walk of shame. That was a nice thing to see. Sadly, the bad man is still there. He's incompetent as well as obnoxious, so the other players took an opportunity to eject his equally unpleasant but infinitely more capable schememate. Don't know if I'll watch next week.

So, Friday

Tentative plan is lunch w/ b2, then get scooped up into the family hovercraft and flit north. I hope that works for everyone.

I'm looking forward to seeing Tiger, too. :)

Limbo

The definite highlight today was lunch with S and the Tiger - they had been riding cable cars, and were on their way to ride the ferry.

The rest of the day, I pretty much had to close my eyes and think of beedogs.

Best wishes for a good winter

Didn't do much for Solstice yesterday. I said, "Hey, it's Solstice. I should do something," and left it at that. Oh, wait - I did launder. So that's like, a purification ritual, right?

Yeah, that's it. A purification ritual.

Work with me, here.

Survivor just gets better and better

So, there was this crowd of pretty young people who just loved each other because they were each cooler and smarter and prettier than the next. They allied with each other, and also a couple of token old guys who happened to be on their tribe at the time. They were sure they would control the game right to the end, because they were just! that! awesome!

As of tonight, the In Crowd is sitting in the jury box. All that's left of their alliance in the game is the token old guy they had been planning to ditch first after all of their non-allies were gone. The Last of the Pretty People stood around all episode whining that she is so much smarter than the people who were about to vote her out. Had she not spent the previous month being rude to them, she might have been able to find an angle to work, but she'd painted herself into a corner. Meanwhile, Token Old Guy came up with a half-decent bluff that almost worked to keep her in the game. Unfortunately for her, the other players could count...
