Just as I got home, a bunch of people with signs marched by, escorted by motorcycle cops. Then sirens. Then the people with signs marched back the other way, escorted by motorcycle cops.
Later, Cirie got blindsided by JT.

Scales
Happy Equinox! The sun enters Libra today.
I spent the morning on the phone trying to figure out how to set the time on my 5-year tchotchke. My quest was hampered by the nice lady's inability to find me in her computer. Turns out I'd been filed under the wrong company, and was actually supposed to have been picking from an entirely different tchotchke array. Did I want to send my tchotchke back and choose another? I told her no, no - now that I know how to set the time, the clock is lovely.
Then I got a call from The Realtor (fille), talking about me coming in write an offer this week. I asked if that meant she'd heard from the city about my ap. Um, er, no. Mmmkay. I'd be happy to move along with this, but until we get approval from the city it's kind of pointless, and The Realtor (père) only submitted the paperwork on Friday, so, huh? I did take it as a reminder to leave a follow-up voicemail with the city.
Later, I did some actual work.

Major Earring Score
Went to the Millbrae Art & Wine Fest with b2. We shopped. We drank wine. We ran into her parents. (Hi, b2's parents!) I scored major quantities of earrings. Then we went for ice cream.
I also got a sunburn. When will I learn the Lesson of Sunscreen?

Sad news
The Bad Man was not voted out. Instead, a pawn was medevacced. I hope they don't have to amputate his leg or anything.

Early
I woke up around 4:30, I guess. About 5:30 I gave up, got up, and made myself some breakfast. Then I figured, why not? and went in to work early. Confused the heck out of my coworkers. Had a tolerably productive day bullying the minions. (I had four minions this week. Four! I must release them tomorrow.) Stopped off at Rite-Aid and yelled at the manager for holding up the line. Stayed up to watch Supernatural, which lacked angels and apocalyptic omens but did closely resemble some recent horror movies that I've seen commercials for. Disappointing.
I'm pretty tired now.

Full morning
Today we took a look at the line to get into the California Academy of Science and went to the Conservatory instead. Then we went to Fort Point and enjoyed the fine array of didactic panels. And the view. It was clear enough to see not just the Bay Bridge but the Claremont Hotel, too.
We had pizza for lunch and cupcakes for dessert, and then some went to see a scale model of the Bay, and some peeled off.

Made for walking
"Will you walk a little faster?" said a whiting to a snail
"There's a porpoise close behind us and he's treading on my tail
See how eagerly the lobsters and the turtles all advance!
They are waiting on the shingle - will you come and join the dance?"

Good news/bad news
CC was right. It turned into a cold. I've been swilling chicken soup all day.
I blame the Cricket.
In happier news, Ozzy was voted out of Survivor, and he didn't see it coming at all. I laughed and laughed...
This may turn out to be the season I've been hoping for.

Poor Jonathan
He was seriously annoying me, but I hate seeing him forced to withdraw on a medical. He wanted so much to play... Chet quitting in the same episode was just galling.

I went looking on "alligator boots," then "armadillo purse," then hit the jackpot with "ostrich purse."

A Limerick
Little Zooks, of whom no one was fond,
They shot toward the roof and beyond;
The infant's trajectory passed him over the rectory,
And into a lily-choked pond.

Bitten off
Newbie stopped by my desk last thing today, and could she ask me a question? I said yes, of course. She wants to know about something I (actually, my boss) said in today's meeting. Fortunately, my boss was passing on her way out the door and allowed herself to get sucked in.
The original question was about why companies might make apparently sub-optimal economic decisions under particular conditions. Two follow-up questions later, and we're explaining the Enclosure movement. One more question, and we would have hit the Black Death and the Little Ice Age. It all comes back to climate change eventually.
