I had a banana to use up, so I mashed it, added some peanut butter, milk, sour cream and an egg and baked it. Tasted pretty good, but the texture was odd.

all before noon
I thought up a really good curse in the shower this morning: May you experience the consequences of your actions.
Too harsh?
More of a crowd than usual at the bus stop this morning. Some guy walked up to one of the regulars and started threatening her - I heard, "If you were a guy I'd beat your ass," and there was more I didn't hear. She just stared at him. He walked away, but he kept pointing back to her and miming kicking as he crossed the street. Coward that I am, I did nothing until he'd gone around the corner, and only then did I go ask her if she was OK. "I don't know him," she said. "I didn't think you did," I said, "Just wanted to check you're OK." She said yeah, and I heeded her 'I have had way too much human contact for now' vibe and stepped away.
Came in to find three months of the Barbados Gazette on my chair. Hooray! I <3 gazettes.
10:30 finally got a call back from the city. I'm approved. Didn't the realtor call? (Yes, she called two days ago, but for some reason, we decided to do the "who's on first?" sketch instead of having a productive conversation.)
10:40 vm to loan officer.
Finished sorting through the Barbados Gazette; found one (1) piece of relevant information.
11:15 Boss hands me my annual review form. She said nice things. We're going for a muffin later.

I think I need a hobby
Ohh! I know! I'll spend the next few days thinking deeply about hobbies I could take up. I'll mull and consider, and if there's time, I'll research. That should fill the time nicely until the new season of Project Runway starts.

"Beware of monocausal theories."

He was talking about the historiography of the English Revolution at the time, but I have found it good advice in general.

Busy busy day
K&D&me went to story hour at the library, and checked out some books
...to a coffee shop for muffins
...to a totally excellent playground, with a cannon, and a digging device, and a train, and a really tall spiral slide, and shady swings
...to the supermarket for fruit and cheese, and also sausages and other good stuff
...to the window store for screens, where we met two mellow dogs lying in the shade, who rolled over to have their bellies scratched
...home for lunch on the lawn
...and then K&me took a nap.
S&D went to the beach and to drop off books at another library, and when they came home, D took a nap.
K&S went for a swim in the lake.
D woke up, and we all changed for K's birthday dinner. The food was delicious. There were basil mashed potatoes, and it was good.
S&D got up and walked around some - they went to the little library across the street from the restaurant that's open until 9. After dinner, we went back and checked out more books.
I have a sunburn, and wish to begin experimenting with adding basil to my potatoes.

Bastille Day
Happy Anniversary to K&SC!
SD's birthday revels here - Ethiopian for dinner, chocolate dinosaur cupcakes for dessert, and the new Potter movie to round off the evening. I shared around the Interrupting Starfish bit. SD followed up with the Incognito Starfish, the Celebrating Starfish, the One-Armed Starfish of Derision, and the Morphing Starfish (becomes the Jellyfish of Doooom). Dude is creative.
We ended the evening beheading chocolate dinosaurs. Many happy returns of the day. :)

Summertime, summertime
All day, the voices in my head have been singing Gershwin:
Summertime,
And the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high
and then The Jamies:
Its time to head straight for them hills
Its time to live and have some thrills
Come along and have a ball
A regular free-for-all
a dash of the Lovin' Spoonful:
Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city
then back to Gershwin:
One of these mornings
You’re goin’ to rise up singing
Then you’ll spread your wings
And you’ll take the sky
But till that morning
There’s a nothin’ can harm you
Don't you cry.
Hope everyone had a good solstice.

Green eggs & jam
I have no pig earrings, and I have no Dr. Seuss in the house. Why do I have no Dr. Seuss? This is one sorry state of affairs.
