Eeeh! I own one of these. I can get you one if you want.
You know, every country got to customize one side of the euro coin. Spain has the King's face for instance. The Greeks decided to put an owl and also the words "1 euro" written in Greek. Of course, they are the only ones with a different alphabet. On the other side of this coin there is the standard "1 euro" sign with regular Latin letters.
I think we can revise our choice any time, and I believe there have been some commemorative editions already...
I hope our king lives long, but he is 70 already, so yes, I guess at some point that will come to happen. His son is ready to step in though. He will appear in the coins, I am sure. Lower denomination Euro coins have a picture of Cervantes. He is long dead.

That's OK - it was this or an Athenian Owl, and there weren't any uncopyrighted pictures of the Athenian Owl on the first page of google results.
ReplyDeleteWill Spain get to put the next king on the euro, or are you all stuck with the current king in perpetuity?
