The Confused Cricket came along on a virtual shopping trip with me this evening. I dithered. She said, "Get them both. They're on sale." And indeed they were. So I did. Now I just have to wait for them to arrive.
And, omg, then I'll be a browncoat. With a camel. ;)

Little Zooks, of whom no one was fond
They shot toward the roof and beyond
The infant's trajectory
Took it over the rectory
And into a lily-choked pond

Have a nice day
I don't have a nice day any more. I don't bother much with that. I think I'm beyond that now. I think I've outgrown the nice day. I think I've had my share. Why should I be hogging all the really nice ones? Let somebody else have a few. Course, everybody still wants me to have one. Everybody wants me to have a nice day. 'Have a nice day!' Yeah, yeah, yeah. You wanna give me my fucking change, please? I'm triple parked...

Happy Solstice!
Today I went to see the pretty glass. [ooooh. aaaaaah.] What I really wanted to bring home was one of the paintings. They're sketches for glass works, really, but also fully realized paintings that would look good in my living room. Sadly, no prints were available. [deep sigh of frustrated acquisitveness.] While I was there I also visited the sculpture garden and the hanging wire in the base of the tower. [ooooh. aaaaaah.]
I had thought of going to Green Apple, but it was Too Darn Hot. I went home instead.

Important fact that could save your life one day, though I have no clear idea how:
A yawl has the mizzen mast aft of the rudder post, while a ketch has the mizzen forward of the rudder.

Anticipation
Only three months until International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
About three weeks until the rug store next door closes. (Or maybe it's just three weeks until the owner goes on vacation. We only spoke in passing.)
And three days until solstice, and this awful Spring is over.
I forgot to put on earrings today. It was that kind of morning.

Summer makes me drowsy
Autumn makes me sing
Winter's pretty lousy
But I hate Spring.

Eventful weekend
Friday, my esteemed boss sent me a link to PirateFest. I was immediately enthused. Not to go to PirateFest, mind you, but to intend to go, to make no plan and take no action that would lead to me getting there, to say "arrrgh" at random intervals, and to be mildly disappointed when the weekend ended and I hadn't been to PirateFest. I felt this was an excellent plan and I was enthusiastic about it.
Saturday I washed my dishes. Huge mistake. I pulled the plug and the water did not go AWAY (as prophesied and promised by the Blue Man Group) but instead flooded the cabinet under the sink and flowed onto the kitchen floor. I scurried to remove my beautiful rug from harm's way, then mopped up the dishwater.
That spoiled my plan pretty thoroughly. Instead of spending the weekend intending to go to PirateFest, I spent the weekend anticipating the plumber. This was much less fun, as it involved tidying the front room, kitchen, and bathroom because someone would see them. The detritus of the tidying is now all in my room. I still have to re-scatter it all throughout the place.
Monday morning the plumber dude arrived. It was the same guy who installed my water heater; he was once again both pleasant and competent. He pulled the old pipe out from under the sink (giant rusted-out patch; I'm astonished the pipe lasted as long as it did) and had all new piping installed in less than an hour. Plumber dude, you rock.
I am, however, left wondering if the Universe is trying to tell me to move that rug out of the kitchen on a permanent basis.

Meeting of the Planning Committee
...delayed slightly, d/t my failure to set my alarm. We finally convened at noon at the Dancing Square. It was an extremely productive meeting. The Lead Designer produced two working plans (one with a big wide stretch of window, one with a big wide stretch of counter) to be presented to the prospective contractor for costing. The meeting broke up around two.
On the way home, I said, "It's a really nice day. We should go look at the ocean." So we did.
There were kites.
